Upon reading some of the reviews others left on Amazon, most of them said this sewing machine was simply the best they ever used. I am not saying they are wrong or right and everyone has a different opinion – there were a few unenthusiastic reviews – so you should read them yourself.

However, the HD1000 is an excellent machine in the opinion of most owners, and surpassed all the high expectations that owners had for it.

Since the sewing machine is manufactured with metal instead of plastic, it does weigh a little more but not too much and is still portable. Another slight imperfection with the sewing machine is it takes a little getting used to, but you might expect that from such a full-featured machine. The pressure sensitive foot pedal speeds up and slows down the needle based on how your foot is compressing the pedal. It took one owner a little while to get the hang of it but within an hour she was able to use the pedal freely without really thinking about it.

The metal body of the Janome is amazing. Sure, it may be heavier, but the overall durability seems greater than any plastic.

The two issues mentioned above were really the only things that owners were not completely satisfied with and overall opinion is that the Janome HD1000 is an excellent machine for home sewing as well as in an industrial setting.

This sewing machine can be used for small and large sewing tasks and can be used for several hours without discomfort in your arms, legs, and wrists. One reviewer reported how amazed she was by how comfortable it was use. She was able to sew a pillow very easily and the stitches looked great.

Another positive comment left by several owners was that the Janome HD1000 sewing machine does not cost a whole lot of money. When comparing sewing machines side by side, owners found that the HD1000 was priced just over the lower quality ones being a little more expensive, however was priced a lot less than the other heavy duty sewing machines.

• its 840 stitches-per-minute makes drapery hemming a snap
• this machine is made of metal, like the good music from my day

• buttonholes are skimpy
• most of the problems I’ve encountered were resolved after removing the top or bottom case and picking lint and threads out of moving parts
