The people who purchased and used the Singer 7470 Confidence Electronic Sewing Machine scored it generally high and there were very few negative reviews.  A high number of reviewers commented on the ease of use and versatility of the electronic sewing machine.

I am researching some new machines to get and your review really let me see that I don’t need an $800 machine to get the quality that I am looking for.

A number of owners stated that they had only recently started sewing and that their very first sewing projects were on the Singer 7470.  Mostly they were pleased with how much creativity it allowed them to have with little or no experience in that field of expertise.

Some reviewers had a less positive experience with bobbin jams and malfunctions.  One disappointed customer said that the machine was constantly jamming the fabric and the thread together in a big mess.  However, other owners reported that they had spent a little time practicing with the auto-threader and that they were no delighted with it. Perhaps the disappointed owner had a fault machine that should have been returned under warranty.

I did a lot of research and for the features, this was the best quality for the price.

One disgruntled purchaser complained that that the bobbin jams, the tread catches and the bobbin wound poorly.  She commented that the accessories are cheaply made and at a very basic minimum and that she had problems every since starting to use the Singer machine. However, after reading the manual she was much happier. Others reported being pleased with the way the bobbin works.

On a fairly positive note another reviewer beamed that despite only having the machine for a month and being a complete sewing novice, she had made a quilt, 4 shirts and 3 sets of curtains with it.

One unhappy customer said that it was a totally unreliable machine and a waste of money but this was an unusual comment. Most owners were happy with the sewing machine and the results it produced.

I am very pleased with the Singer Confidence, especially the price for the functions you get.

• A bit heavy to carry but this means that it is sturdy.
• Best to use class 15J bobbins which aren’t available everywhere
• The rolled hem foot isn’t all that great. It’s easier (seriously) to just press and pin a narrow hem myself.
